In 1987, De Padova launched its collection of designer tables and, ever since, the glass dining table with a modern appeal, Vidun, has been one of Vico Magistretti’s best known, recognised and appreciated projects. A designer table and a true masterpiece of joinery, ‘vidun’, in Milanese dialect means a large screw. It’s made of white or black natural beech, and features set colour combinations: purple, turquoise and green; red, yellow and orange; or Canaletto walnut. It’s a series of sculptural and purist pieces with a glass tabletop through which to glimpse the base: “It’s always a conceptual detail that attracts people’s attention”, Vico Magistretti used to say.
