Marie Claude Lalique

Marie-Claude Lalique (1935–2003) was a French designer and sculptor whose work continued the artistic tradition of her family. Inspired by nature and her travels, particularly in Africa, she developed a distinctive sculptural language centered on the beauty, strength, and movement of animals.

Her creations expanded the family’s celebrated bestiary with subjects such as lions, panthers, and zebras. Working with plastiline to model her designs, she created pieces characterized by elegant silhouettes, expressive forms, and meticulous attention to detail.

Among her notable creations is the Zeila Panther, a sculptural interpretation of the feline that captures both its powerful musculature and graceful, sensual movement. The original design dates to 1989.
